Courses Satisfying General Education Requirements: Foundations
Filter the course list by a particular term or requirement (or both). Or you may use the search box to look up a specific course number or title.
If you are entered Barnard as a first-year student in fall 2025 or later, or if you entered Barnard as a transfer student in fall 2026 or later, please note the following:
-
You may only use Barnard classes to satisfy your Modes of Thinking requirements. These classes have the “@ BC” designation under “Requirements Satisfied” below.
- For example, a class labeled as “Social Difference @ BC” will satisfy your Thinking about Social Difference requirement, whereas a class labeled simply as “Social Difference” will not.
-
In addition, be sure you register for a Barnard section of these courses. (Some courses have section(s) taught at Barnard and section(s) taught at Columba.)
Here’s how you can tell whether a section is Barnard or Columbia:
In the Vergil course search, look at the Call Number of the class.- Barnard sections: Call numbers start with 0
- Columbia sections: Call numbers start with 1
- We highly recommend that you filter the database by the term in which you will be taking the class to ensure the class is approved
